FAQ

FAQ

Short answers for buying, installing, and trusting Maru Writer. The longer Knowledge Base will live in GitBook at docs.maruwriter.com.

The room is yours.

What does “The room is yours” mean?

It means Maru Writer is built as a private desktop writing room, not a social feed, cloud notebook, or productivity dashboard. The app should help you stay with the manuscript instead of pulling you away from it.

Is Maru Writer offline-first?

Yes. Maru Writer is built around local writing. Your manuscript lives on your machine, not inside a cloud editor.

Does Maru Writer store my manuscript online?

No. The product site, checkout, and license email flow are separate from your writing files. Maru Writer itself is designed for local manuscripts.

Is this a subscription?

The launch plan is a one-time license. Replace this wording if you later add paid upgrades, subscriptions, or maintenance plans.

What platforms are supported?

The initial target is desktop. Keep this section updated with the exact launch builds you ship, such as Windows, macOS, or Linux.

How does license activation work?

After purchase, you receive a license key by email. Maru Writer validates the key separately from the manuscript itself, so writing remains local-first.

Can I reinstall Maru Writer?

Yes. Keep your license key and receipt email. If you lose the key, use the Resend Key page or contact support@maruwriter.com.

What happens if I lose my license key?

Use the Resend Key page. While automated resend is being built, that page can point users to support@maruwriter.com.

Does Maru Writer handle large manuscripts?

Yes. Maru Writer is designed for long manuscripts, focused writing, fast navigation, and keeping big projects usable.

Can Maru Writer export manuscript PDFs?

Yes. Maru Writer includes manuscript PDF export and preview workflows. The Knowledge Base will eventually document the exact export options.

Is there a web editor?

No. Maru Writer is a desktop writing app, not a browser-based manuscript editor.

Where is the full documentation?
